The OECD defines “literacy” as a blend of knowledge, skills and dispositions.
Our literacy-based curriculum empowers learners to thrive in today’s world and shape tomorrow’s.
All our literacies and credits reflect the most sought-after workforce skills, key elements for a fulfilling life, and essential tools for human progress.
We know that it takes interdisciplinary thinking to understand our world and tackle humanity’s most pressing challenges.
This is why learners attain credits from the core curriculum in an interdisciplinary way.
For example, we have seen learners learn geometry through design, improve their emotional intelligence through art, and learn economics by creating a society on Mars.
Every learning experience in our school is guided by the curriculum’s explicit set of learning outcomes captured in what we call The Human Literacies Framework.
These standards, when met, will ensure that learners are truly future-ready.
In Middle School, learners develop set learning outcomes within each literacy, designed for core knowledge and skills needed in Grades 7 and 8.
In High School, Foundational credits (typically developed in Grades 9 and 10) represent the areas we guide all learners to develop.
Advanced electives offer learners the opportunity to go for depth or breadth – taking either a generalist or a specialist approach (in Grades 11 and 12).
Our Advanced learners tackle a year-long challenge spanning a full academic year, giving them more time to engage, investigate, and act on the challenge. This will culminate in an extended project qualification (EPQ) and include an extended essay. Learners will also explore advanced skill units allowing for deeper mastery of the knowledge or skill.
Our Advanced Credits are benchmarked against the AP, giving learners the option to prepare for the AP Exams should they choose for university admission.
Our school is internationally accredited, and our curriculum is benchmarked against the Australian, European and UAE qualifications frameworks.
We benchmark some advanced credits against AP (Advanced Placement) learning targets, which means learners also have the option of taking the AP examinations (recognized by universities globally) in their final years should they choose to do so.
